The journey began in 2018 when I (Flo) received a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in my right shoulder. The doctors informed me that shoulder replacement surgery was necessary, which meant putting a pause on my licensed cosmetology career of over 20 years. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, I made the difficult decision and underwent the shoulder replacement surgery in the summer of 2020. It was during my recovery phase that I experienced one of many eczema flare-ups. Having suffered from eczema for years, I had sought relief from dermatologists to no avail.

At the same time, Gabby was dealing with severe acne and hair breakage. I realized that I needed a natural solution for our conditions — a return to my roots. Having grown up in Guyana, South America, I had witnessed my mother’s use of herbs and essential oils to treat various ailments.With Gabby’s assistance, I embarked on extensive research using essential oils, pure organic oils, and luxurious butters to address our scalp and skin issues. Together, we developed several treatment formulas that effectively tackled my eczema and reduced Gabby’s acne while promoting hair growth. We began crafting soaps and body butter for our family and friends, and the feedback was always positive. This not only excited us but also inspired us to take things further. In the fall of 2020, I enrolled in a Skincare Formulation Certificate Course with Formula Botanica.
